2020 Georgia State Senate election

The 2020 Georgia State Senate elections took place on November 3, 2020 as part of the biennial United States elections. Georgia voters elected state senators in all 56 of the state senate's districts to the 156th Georgia General Assembly. State senators serve two-year terms in the Georgia State Senate.

Not to be confused with 2020–21 United States Senate election in Georgia or 2020–21 United States Senate special election in Georgia.

Primaries were held on June 9, 2020, coinciding with primaries for U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Georgia House of Representatives, county and regional prosecutorial offices to determine which candidates appear on the November 3 ballot.

Following the 2018 state senate elections, Republicans maintained effective control of the Senate with 35 members, losing two seats to the Democratic caucus. However, the 4th Senate district became vacant upon the death of Jack Hill.

To reclaim control of the chamber from Republicans, the Democrats would have needed to net 8 seats without the Lieutenant Governor's office. Democrats filed candidacies for 43 total seats in the State Senate, the highest number of Democratic campaigns for State Senate since 1998.
