Guyana–Turkey relations

After years of limited bilateral relations due to geographic distance, Guyana’s relations with Turkey has recently developed through Turkey's relationship with CARICOM and CELAC.[1]

In March 2014, Turkey participated in the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM held in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a special guest. In July 2014, the First Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Turkey–CARICOM Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism took place in Istanbul with the participation of Guyana.[2]

Turkey regularly meets with CELAC at Foreign Ministers level, with Turkey–CELAC Foreign Ministers Meetings held in New York in September 2013, September 2015, September 2016 and in Istanbul on April 21, 2017. [2]
