List of Mexican state legislatures
Mexico is a federal republic consisting of 31 states and Mexico City. Each state has their own legislature whereby laws affecting the state are made. All states, including Mexico City, use the presidential system form of government. Individual states determine when and how frequent elections occur. The longest legislative term is in the State of Puebla, which lasts 4 years. The shortest legislative term lasts 2 years and applies in 11 states.
