Angvastra

Angvastra(Angavastram, अंगवस्त्रम) is a shoulder cloth part of the ethnic attire of men in the India. It is a single piece of cloth with decorated borders(optional). Angvastra is an ethnic accessory popular with Dhoti and kurta in many states especially Maharashtra and the South India.The Angvastra is also used as an emblem to greet and welcome the guests. It is a mark of respect for the elders and Gurus(teachers).[1][2][3][4][5]

Style and use

Angvastra is a simple loose garment, usually paired or matching with dhoti color, draped over the shoulders. It is a traditional wear of South India and a profound fashion statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore karai veshti dhoti, kurta, and angavastram, the traditional attire during his visit to Arjuna's Penance, Krishna's Butterball, the Pancha Rathas, and Shore Temple.[5][6][7]As a matter of regards, a weaver from Varanasi has woven a special silks 'angavastram' for Mr. Modi; he designed it with the Buddhist mantras on it.[2]
