Warangal railway station

Warangal railway station (station code: WL) is located at Warangal Urban District in Telangana. It is under the administration of Secunderabad railway division of South Central Railway zone on the Delhi–Chennai line.[1] Most of the trains running on Vijayawada–Warangal section pass through Warangal railway station. Kazipet Junction is the nearby railway station.

Facilities

Indian Railways,under its station redevelobment project has upgraded the Warangal Railway station,which comes under Secunderabad division,with many passenger friendly facilities[2].East side of Railway station resembles the historical "Kakatiya Architecture".General waiting hall,ladies waiting hall,and the upper class waiting hall,present on the east side of the station has been widened,and its ambience modernised by the Railways.Renovation on the western side of the station is under progress[2].There is a provision for spacious concourse,one general waiting hall,one upper class waiting hall and one pay and use toilet[2].Various other facilities are also being planned.Provison being made for Divyang passengers in the form of separate toilets,ramps at enterances etc[2].Circulation area on the west site of the station is being widened and provided with a separate entry and exit.Additional circulating area will have a facility to park atleast 100 two wheelers and 24 four wheelers at a time[2].This facility will ensure free flow of "drop in" and "drop out" for travellers coming with vehicles.

Walls in the concourse area and on platform no.1 had been beautified with local art-Cheriyal painting[2].Stone flooring on platform no.1 had been replaced with granite flooring[2].Additionally the seating capacity in the platform no.1 had been increased[2].Provision created for additional prepaid AC waiting hall.One waiting room out of two had been air conditioned and equipped with modern furniture.Second AC deluxe retiring room had been kept spacious for the comfortable stay of passengers[2].Foot on Board facility on one side of platform had been extended till last platform,4.Platform 4,which had limited shelther,now has 16 additional bays with new cover.Additionally,to tap the rain water efficiently,rain water harvesting pits had been provided and trees being planted at available space.Windows had been equipped with sun reflective glasses,which controls heat and light passing into the rooms and avoid getting over hot[2].Also all the platforms have been provided with new LED type signage boards and all the luminaries had been equipped with LED to minimise energy consumption.Additionally,all the platforms had been provided with coach and train indication boards for the convenience of passengers[2].
