Type 076 landing helicopter dock

The Type 076 landing helicopter dock is a class of planned Chinese amphibious assault ship.[3] The Type 076 is a larger and more capable successor to the Type 075. It is often described as a drone carrier with a primary complement of UCAVs, possibly including a flying wing design similar to the Hongdu GJ-11.[4]

According to some sources, the main goal of the new class is to give more flexibility to expanding blue water operations of the People's Liberation Army Navy. It could be deployed as part of a carrier group alongside larger aircraft carriers, or as a capital ship of a fleet itself.

Design

Although few specifics are known, the Type 076 will likely have a full-length flight deck and the ability to operate fixed-wing aircraft with EMALS catapult system and arresting gear.[5] The ship will have a floodable well deck and 30 tons capacity aircraft lifts.
