Misión Eurovisión 2007

Misión Eurovisión 2007 was the national final organised by TVE that took place from 9 January 2007 to 24 February 2007 at the TVE studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez.

Format

Misión Eurovisión 2007 consisted of 57 candidates competing over four shows: four heats on 9, 16, 23 January and 3 February 2007, a semi-final on 10 February 2007 and the final on 24 February 2007. Each heat featured between twelve and fifteen contestants performing cover versions of popular songs of their choice. The contestants first faced a regional televote, which saw the voting figures of each region in Spain being converted to points. The top ten received 1–8, 10 and 12 points and the three contestants with the most votes advanced to the semi-final. A two-member in-studio expert jury then selected another two contestants to advance, with the remaining contestants being eliminated. In the semi-final, the remaining twenty contestants again performed cover versions of popular songs of their choice and the three contestants with the most regional televotes advanced to the final. The jury then selected another two contestants to advance to the final, with the remaining contestants being eliminated.[1] In the final, the five finalists each performed five candidate Eurovision songs selected from an open submission and the winner was decided over two rounds of voting. In the first round, the top five combinations of artist and song were selected by a public vote for a second round of voting, during which the public again determined the winner of Misión Eurovisión 2007.

The members of the in-studio jury that evaluated the performances during all shows were:

Competing entries

On 14 November 2006, a submission period was open for artists and songwriters to separately submit their applications and entries until 15 January 2007 and 30 December 2006 respectively. Performer auditions took place in Madrid and Seville where 680 candidates participated. 60 were shortlisted for a final audition round, where the fifty-seven contestants for Misión Eurovisión 2007 were selected.[2] 1,001 songs were received at the conclusion of the submission period, and an evaluation committee shortlisted fifteen songs for an Internet vote.[3]
