In the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the RM of Star City No. 428 recorded a population of 918 living in 315 of its 331 total private dwellings, a 0.8% change from its 2011 population of 911. With a land area of 824.85 km2 (318.48 sq mi), it had a population density of 1.1/km2 (2.9/sq mi) in 2016.[4]

Government
The RM of Star City No. 428 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the second Tuesday of every month.[3] The reeve of the RM is Robert Miller while its administrator is Levina Cronk.[3] The RM's office is located in Star City.[3]
