List of international cricket five-wicket hauls on New Zealand cricket grounds
International cricket has been played in New Zealand since 1930 when the New Zealand national cricket team played their first Test match against England at Christchurch. The New Zealand Women cricket team played its first Test match in 1935 at the same venue and both sides continue to play internationals at a range of venues across new Zealand.
In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a notable achievement.[1] This list details the five-wicket hauls taken on New Zealand grounds in international matches.
The first five-wicket haul on a New Zealand ground was taken in the first international match played in the country by England bowler Maurice Allom in 1930. The first woman to achieve the feat was Australian Myrtle Maclagan who did so in the first women's international match played in the country in 1935. The first New Zealander to take a five-wicket haul in the country was Jack Cowie who did so in 1946, with Grace Gooder the first New Zealand woman player to do so in 1949. The feat has been achieved in all forms of the international game by both men and women in Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.
