List of districts of Madhya Pradesh
The Indian State of Madhya Pradesh came into existence on 1 November 1956. Madhya Pradesh has various regions which have no official administrative governmental status but they are purely geographic regions; some correspond to historic countries, states or provinces. Currently, the number of districts in the state is 52.[1] These districts are grouped into ten administrative divisions. The regions and district in Madhya Pradesh is shown below. In 2000, the state broke up into two, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Agro-climatically, geographically, historically, and according to political sentiments, Madhya Pradesh has following main regions :
- Kaimur Plateau and Satpura Hills
- Vindhyan Plateau (Hills)
- Narmada valley
- Wainganga valley
- Mahakoshal Region
- Gird (Gwalior) Region
- Baghelkhand Region
- Bundelkhand Region
- Satpura Plateau (Hills)
- Malwa Plateau
- Nimar Plateau
- Jhabua Hills
List of districts
There are 52 districts in Madhya Pradesh divided in ten divisions.[2][3] A new district, Niwari, was created in October 2018 by partitioning Tikamgarh district.[1] Niwari was declared the 52nd district on 1 October 2018.

Future districts
A bill regarding creation of 3 districts namely Nagda, Maihar and Chachaura-Binaganj was passed on 19 March 2020.[6]
