Kərkicahan (Karkijahan) is a village de jure in the Khojaly District of Azerbaijan, de facto in the Askeran Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh which considers it part of the city of Stepanakert. The village had an Azerbaijani majority prior to their expulsion during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in 28 December 1991.[1]. It was renamed Krkjan (Armenian: Քրքջան) during Armenian occupation.[2]
