Jaipur Marathon

The AU Bank Jaipur Marathon, abbreviated as AUBJM, is an annual international marathon held in Jaipur, India.[1] It is held every year on a Sunday in February and is one of the largest marathons in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent. AU Bank Jaipur Marathon was recognized by the World Book of Records as the Largest Running Event in India in 2018 with 80,000 participants in various race categories and by the Global Conference London as the Best Marathon of India in 2017.[2] AUBJM is the only marathon in India where more than 15 world records were made in various categories in the last 10 years. Jaipur Marathon started in 2010 with a vision to create a cornerstone event in India, one that would grow in magnitude and elicit increasing participation from the people of India and the world with every passing year.

Since its conception, the run has become bigger with many events held in its support including Promo Runs in various cities, Training Camps, Monthly Long Runs, Kite Festival, Jaipur Birthday Celebration, Sports Awards, Fashion Show for Cause, press conferences, launch parties, Health and Life Style Expos. The marathon has also been endorsed by socialites, international brand ambassadors, Bollywood celebrities, and athletes like Salman Khan, Rahul Dravid, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Kangana Ranaut, Suniel Shetty, Sonam K Ahuja, Arbaz Khan, Malaika Arora, Milind Soman, Sonika Kaliraman, Dharmendra, Shreesanth, Vivek Oberoi, Akshaye Khanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Mugdha Godse, and Shriya Saran. India's Biggest marathon with the fastest running track The AU Bank Jaipur Marathon scheduled on 02.02.2020 was in the top world races that made up the qualifying events for the 2021 edition of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Championships.[3] The Jaipur marathon route is among the world's ten fastest courses. Registration for the 11th edition of the 2020 Jaipur marathon opened on 19 July 2019 at a grand launch ceremony at the British Parliament in London, UK.

The Jaipur Marathon is an event where people from all walks of life participate including Bollywood celebrities, sports personalities, business tycoons, and amateur athletes. It is an event where Indian athletes are able to compete with the international athletes.

The 12th AU Bank Jaipur Marathon will be held on 14 February 2021.

History

The director of the Indian Institute of Event Management Research and a fitness enthusiast, Mukesh Mishra, is the founder and CEO of AU Jaipur Marathon.[4] The event's organizers are Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha and World Trade Park, who, inspired by the London Marathon, believed that Jaipur would be able to support such a road race in India. The first event was held in 2010. In 2016, it was titled the AU Financiers Jaipur Marathon.

The Race

AUBJM has seven different race categories: Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), IIEMR (10 km), Dream Run (6 km), Youth Run (6 km), Senior Citizens' Run (3 km), Beti Bhoj Nahi Hai Run (2 km), and Wheel Chair Run (6 km).[5]

The marathon starts from the South Gate of Ram Niwas Garden Jaipur. It passes many of the city's iconic locations such as Albert Hall Museum, Kesargarh, Dolls Museum, Tri Murti Circle, Ravindra Manch, Birla Mandir, University of Rajasthan, Kulish Smriti Van, MNIT, World Trade Park, Jaipur and one of the biggest circular park in Asia, Jawahar Circle. .[6]

Charity

AUBJM is one of India's largest charity platforms to raise funds for non-profit organisations. NGOs represent issues surrounding civic and community development, disability, education, environment and health, human rights, social services and women, children, and the aged. NGOs use this event as a platform to raise awareness for their work and to directly raise funds. Fundraising is facilitated by an easy-to-use model designed for all groups to raise funds.[9]

Corporate Challenge

The Corporate Challenge is a category for companies who wish to sponsor employee teams to participate in events and raise funds. It is strongly recommended for corporations to encourage their employees to participate in Corporate Challenge for Team Building.

Pledge Raising

Fundraising through AUJM is encouraged through donations/contributions received from friends, family, and colleagues in support of the charity/cause chosen by the participant.

Pre-race activity

Two days before the race, a Bib Expo is organized where the runners can collect their running bibs and kit. The Expo carries a range of running related products to assist runners.[12]
