Hillcrest has a long history of success in sports. The school has won numerous boys' rugby, basketball and hockey championships. The senior boys' rugby team was considered the top in the city, years 2006-08. The junior basketball team was considered the top in the city in the year 2008-09. Hillcrest's varsity girls' hockey team claimed the tier 2 championship, two years in a row 08-09 and 09-10. Also notable is their track team's long history of success at the city and provincial levels. Many players on the Ottawa 67's attend Hillcrest during the season as well.
Hillcrest has a university Advanced Placement program, which is a method of extending classroom learning through activities and travel; a co-curricular program; and a computer technology program in information management.
