Ağdam, Khojavend

Ağdam (Aghdam) or Hakaku (Armenian: Հակակու) is a village in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan. The village had an ethnic Armenian-majority population prior to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and also had an Armenian majority in 1989.[1]

History

The village was captured by Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and was made part of the Hadrut Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh. It was recaptured by the Azerbaijani Army on 9 November 2020 during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.[2]
