Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah
Dr Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah is a Singaporean educator who has been elected as Member of Parliament for Kolam Ayer of Jalan Besar GRC into the 14th Parliament of Singapore with 2020 Singaporean general election and was appointed as the chairman of Jalan Besar Town Council.

Early life and education
In secondary school, Wan Rizal was a Normal (Academic) student.[1] He then studied at Temasek Polytechnic.[2] He graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education at Nanyang Technological University at the age of 31 years old.[1][2] He subsequently gained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in sports science from the National Institute of Education.[1]
Career
Wan Rizal was a physical education teacher in primary school level for two stints of five years, before he went to complete his bachelor's degree.[1] As of 2020, he is a senior lecturer in sports and exercise science at Republic Polytechnic.[1]
He was the chairman of the Al-Islah Mosque in Punggol from 2011 to 2016,[1] canvassing for donations and overseeing the construction of the new mosque.[1][3]
Politics
Wan Rizal was involved with the People's Action Party since 2018, after having helped out the then Member of Parliament Zainal Sapari at the latter's Meet-the-People sessions for a year in 2017.[1][4] He was fielded in 2020 Singaporean general election to contest in Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency (GRC) on People's Action Party's ticket against Peoples Voice.[5][6] His running mates were Josephine Teo, Denise Phua, and Heng Chee How.[7] On 11 July 2020, Wan Rizal and team were declared to be elected to represent Jalan Besar GRC in the 14th Parliament of Singapore, garnering 65.37% of the valid votes.[8]
