Video games in the Republic of Ireland
Video game development in the Republic of Ireland is a major growth industry with the national government trying to encourage investment via tax breaks.[1][2] Video games started in the 1970s.[3]
Manhunt 2 was the first video game banned in Ireland in 2007,[4] later lifted. After being unbanned the game received a "suitable for ages 18 and older" PEGI rating, which is only advisory and not legally enforceable.
The video games festival are a thing in Ireland.[5] £205 million was generated in revenue in Ireland in 2015.[6]
