Trust Me (Pandora song)

"Trust Me" is the debut single by Swedish singer Pandora. It was released in October 1993 as the lead single from her debut studio album, One of a Kind. The song is written and produced by Sir Martin & The Dr. Maxx Family and features an uncredited rap by rapper K-Slim. It peaked at number 3 on the Swedish charts and was certified gold. "Trust Me" became the most sold single of the year in Sweden.[1]

In September 2006 a remix of the song was released by United DJ's vs. Pandora. It peaked at number 2 in Sweden.

Background and release

Singer Pandora from Västerås, Sweden studied to make it to the university. She was asked to record some demos she’d been singing in a small studio in her hometown. These demos ended up at EMI Sweden’s office. In the autumn of 1993 she signed a contract with the record company and released "Trust Me". She was 23-years old.[1]

Critical reception

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet stated that the song "is certainly an irresistible hit".[2] Billboard described it as a "upbeat and direct" track.[3] Music & Media commented that "out of the Swedish box of Pandora rolls a pop/dance song as direct and catchy as Sabrina's Boys (Summertime Love). Oh Boy, a hit!"[4]

Chart performance

"Trust Me" was very successful on the charts in several countries. It peaked at number 3 in Sweden and earned a gold record, becoming the most sold single of the year there. The single also peaked at number 2 in Finland, number 8 in Norway and number 10 in Denmark. On the European Hot 100 Singles, it hit number 28. Outside Europe, "Trust Me" was a big hit in Israel, reaching number 5. It also charted in Australia, peaking at number 82.

Music video

A music video was made to accompany the song. It was uploaded to YouTube in May 2012. By September 2020, the video had more than 372,000 views.[5]
