Tom Whatley

Tom Whatley (born August 7, 1970) is an American politician. He is a Republican representing District 27 in the Alabama State Senate.

Personal life

Whatley was born in Opelika, Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a JD from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.[3] Whatley has been a member of the Alabama Army National Guard since 1988, and is a Lieutenant Colonel.[2]

In December 2014, Whatley was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence,[4] but the charges were dropped, with the city prosecutor saying the case didn't warrant prosecution.[5]

Political career

In 2010, Whatley defeated Democratic incumbent T. D. Little to win the 27th district's seat in the Alabama State Senate. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018.[1]
