Tokyo Metro 18000 series

The Tokyo Metro 18000 series (東京メトロ18000系, Tōkyō Metoro 18000-kei) is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type on order by Tokyo Metro for use on the Hanzomon Line in Japan. They will replace the Tokyo Metro 8000 series currently in service on the Hanzomon Line.[1]

Technical specifications

The first set was built by Hitachi.[2] The trains will use a SiC-PMSM traction system.[3]

Formation

The trains are formed as ten-car sets.[3]

Interior

Wheelchair and stoller spaces are located in every car. The interior also includes security cameras.[1]

History

In March 2019, Tokyo Metro announced a plan to introduce new rolling stock, including the 18000 series.[4]

Delivery of the first set began in October 2020.[5] A second set was delivered from Hitachis Kasado plant in December 2020.[6]

Entry into service is scheduled for 2021.[1]
