The Ghost and Molly McGee is an upcoming American musical animated comedy television series produced by Disney Television Animation. The series was created by Bill Motz and Bob Roth.[1][2] The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney Channel in 2021.

Plot

The series follows Molly McGee, an optimistic tween, who lives to make the world a better place, and a grumpy, deep voiced ghost named Scratch, whose joy comes from spreading misery. When one of his spells backfires, Scratch finds himself forever cursed to be in Molly's presence.[3]

Production

On July 23, 2019, Disney Channel greenlit an animated series titled The Curse of Molly McGee. The series, produced by Disney Television Animation, will be executive-produced by Bill Motz, Bob Roth, and Steve Loter.[4] On September 24, 2020, Ashly Burch and Dana Snyder joined the series in its lead roles.[3] The same day, the series was retitled The Ghost and Molly McGee.[3]

The crew used several songs as inspiration from the series.[5] Motz released a playlist featuring those songs throughout 2020 and part of 2021.[6]

Music

The series' theme song was written by Allie Feder, Mike Kramer, Motz, and Roth, and was performed by Burch and Snyder.[7] Songs for the series will be written by Rob Cantor, with each episode featuring a musical sequence of approximately 1 minute.[7]
