The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Verde
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Verde reported 14,205 members in three stakes, two districts, 42 congregations, today it has 13,508 members and 3 stakes. and one mission, as of January 1, 2018.[1]
History
Missionaries first came to Cape Verde in 1988 the first congregation was Praia/Lajes Branch.[2]
In 1998, Gordon B. Hinckley visited the islands and met with members and government officials.
In 2020, the LDS Church canceled services and other public gatherings indefinitely in response to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.[3]

Praia Cabo Verde Temple
On October 7, 2018 the Praia Cabo Verde Temple was announced by church president Russell M. Nelson. Ground was broken for construction on May 4, 2019.
