Television in Turkmenistan

In total there are 7 public access channels under the jurisdiction of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on TV, Radio and Film.[1] Programs are of a low professional level and the viewer is fed a positive point of view. Criticism can only come from the President. There is censorship on television. The majority of the population takes advantage of satellite TV. Republic-wide TV stations are required to broadcast to the entire territory of Turkmenistan and are free for consumers. All channels are state-owned Turkmen Television.
