Sophie Van Den Akker

Sophie Van Den Akker (born 1 August 1990) is an Australian fashion model. She came third in the sixth cycle of the reality television show Australia's Next Top Model.[2]

Career

Australia's Next Top Model

Sophie entered the Top Model House along with 15 other girls. As the show progressed, she evolved from a commercial to a high fashion look, particularly the 'fur shoot' where she received best picture. She was praised by Alex Perry for giving the most 'expensive' photo of the competition whilst wearing Armani.

She was told by Doll Wright from Elite Model Management that she could work overseas. Until the last episode before the live finale, Kelsey and Sophie were on the bottom two and the judges could not decide who would join Amanda. Therefore, they decided to bring both girls until the end. Sophie placed third on the live finale.[2]

Model

Sophie signed with Priscilla's Model Management in Sydney, Australia, but later moved with Chadwick Models in Melbourne & Sydney, Australia . She modeled for Avon and joined with Rachel Finch for the Speedo 2011 summer campaign.[2]

Sophie appeared in an editorial for Faint Magazine Story UK, as well as a cover and editorial spread for Covet Magazine.[2]

In March 2011, she walked at L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2011 and in July that year she was announced as the face of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.[3]

In August 2011, she walked for David Jones' Melbourne Preview Show alongside models Miranda Kerr and Samantha Harris. She also walked at the Speedo show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival alongside Rachel Finch and Eamon Sullivan.

She walked for Myer Autumn Launch on 1 March 2012 with international models like Ruby Wilson and Jessica Hart, fellow antm alumni Samantha Downie. and Miss Universe 2005, Jennifer Hawkins.

She walked for Melbourne Fashion Series during L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2012 for designers such as MIMCO, etc.

She is currently the face of Mossman Clothing Co.

Plays recruit no. 3 in Predestination.

Germany

In March 2012, she went to Germany and signed with PMA Models in Hamburg where she appeared for magazine such as ICON & Superior Magazine, Grazia Germany, she has done several photo shoots for Tino Criso, Fotoformplus and many more.

Personal life

Sophie and her partner, professional boxer Kane Watts, had a daughter named Layla in April 2017. They are expecting their second child in July 2018.
