Shillpi Sharma

Shilpi Sharma (born 26 March 1983), sometimes credited as Shilpi Mudgal, is an Indian film actress, model and DJ.[1][2][3]

Early life

Sharma originates from a small town called Dholpur in the state of Rajasthan, near the city of Agra. She hails from a family of entrepreneurs and politicians. Her late father, Murarilal Sharma, served as Nagar Palika, Chairman of Dholpur; her mother and brothers are similarly involved in business and governmental departments.

Career

She studied at the All Saints' School, Nainital and has a degree in acting and interior designing from New York, USA and she is one of the most successful DJs in India. She is the first actress turned DJ in India.

As a DJ

In 2014, as a DJ, Sharma became famous for remixing the song "Baby Doll" from the movie Ragini MMS 2.[4] She has also remixed famous songs; like "Lovely" from the movie Happy New Year and the title song of the movie Tamanchey. She touched new heights when her song "Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan" from the movie Roy was released. Her other famous songs are "Luv Letter" and the very famous Song "Tere Sang Yaara" from the film Rustom. She has been remixing most of Shah Rukh Khan's film songs. Shilpi Sharma is on a roll with her three super hit remixes for the film Dilwale. She has remixed "Gerua", "Manma Emotion Jage" and "Tukur Tukur". Her latest song of 2017 is "Zaalima", the famous song of Shah Rukh Khan's film Raees and Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le from the film Dear Zindagi. She also did many performances at world-famous clubs.

TV advertisement

Sharma started her career by acting in Big TV advertisements. She was the face of Pears Soap for five years. She did ads for other brands like HSBC, Nippo Gold Batteries with Rahul Dravid, McDonald's, Park Avenue, Colgate [5]

Film career

After doing a number of ads, she made her movie debut with director N. Chandra's film Style.[6] She was next cast in Rahul Rawail's Jo Bole So Nihaal. She made a brief appearance in Subhash Ghai's film, Right Yaa Wrong.[7] In 2012, she has acted in Madhur Bhandarkar's film Heroine, this drama film was written, directed, and co-produced by Madhur Bhandarkar. In the film, Shilpi Sharma's character name was Isha Sharma. Shilpi described her chance in Bhandarkar as "a family friend" who was approached by the director to play a glamorous role. Shilpi is also currently signed for many Bollywood films.[8] Shilpi also did a special appearance in the film Thank You.[8][9]

Awards and recognition

DJ Shilpi Sharma received an award at the Young Women Achievers Awards, while receiving the award, Shilpi Sharma said: "I really feel good that someone has recognized my hard work. It was a proud moment to achieve this award. Every woman out there who was nominated had a story to inspire and it feels great they chose me as one of it. It was really wonderful that the most important woman in my life, my mother was also been called up on stage. It feels very privileged and I will forever cherish this moment".[9]
