Sabroom railway station

Sabroom railway station is a railway station in South Tripura district, Tripura, India. Its code is SBRM. It serves Sabroom town[1] and is the last station in Tripura state. It is situated the bank of Feni River near Bangladesh border.

Details

The station lies on the 113 km long 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) broad-gauge AgartalaSabroom railway line which comes under the Lumding railway division of the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is a single line without electrification. The 43 km long segment from Agartala to Udaipur near Mata Tripura Sundari temple was completed in 2016 and became operational with two trains running on this segment.[2][3][4][5] The remaining section from Udaipur to Sabroom was completed by 2019 and became operational on 3 October 2019.

Construction

The first DEMU serving Agartala–Sabroom performed its inaugural run 3 October 2019. The track may be extended from Sabroom to Chittagong port in Bangladesh as agreed by the prime ministers of the both countries.
