History

Rosita and Elmo with president and CEO of Sesame Workshop, Gary Knell
Rosita and Jesse with US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen

Rosita was originally designed to look similar to a fruit bat and bore the name Rosita, La Monstrua de las Cuevas ("the monster of the caves"). However, her wings were removed in 2004 (the show's 35th season).[1] She wears a ribbon in her hair, but in difference to Zoe she does not wear two because she is just no longer so little.

Rosita was introduced to the series in 1991.

Rosita is performed by Carmen Osbahr, who originally worked on Mexico's Plaza Sésamo.
