Planning permission was originally granted in 2014, with modified permission approved in 2018. In 2018, Iarnród Éireann stated that construction would begin in 2019,[3] but the groundbreaking finally took place on 26 February 2020.[1][2] As of early 2020, the project was projected to cost €10-€10.5 million.[4][5]
