Paluküla Church
Paluküla Church is located in Hiiumaa Parish, Hiiu County, Estonia. The church was founded by the baronial family of Ungern-Sternberg in 1820. Until 1939, it was in use as a supporting chapel for the Kärdla church.
Paluküla Church had 100 seats. There was no pastorate or graveyard near the church, just a church in a woodland close to the road. In 1939, the Soviet military used the building as a warehouse and the tower as a lookout position. After the Second World War, the building was not active as a church and it served as a warehouse while being gradually abandoned until, in 1989, the tower was ruined by a fire.[1]
The church functions as a rear sea mark in range with Hiiessaare Lighthouse.
