Pacific Rim: The Black

Pacific Rim: The Black[1] is an upcoming American anime-style streaming television series, based on the first two live-action Pacific Rim films.[1] Produced by Legendary Television, it is scheduled for a March 4, 2021 release on Netflix.[2]

Production

In November 2018, Netflix announced that an anime series adaptation based on the films was in the works.[4] It was originally set for a 2020 release.[5] During their virtual "Anime Festival" livestream event in October 2020, its title Pacific Rim: The Black and a 2021 release window was revealed.[6] A second season was also greenlit.[7]

The series is produced by American company Legendary Television[1] and animated by Japanese studio Polygon Pictures.[8] Greg Johnson and Marvel Comics writer Craig Kyle will serve as showrunners.[8]

Release

Pacific Rim: The Black is set for a March 4, 2021 release on Netflix.[2] A teaser trailer was released on February 1,[9] followed by a full trailer on February 5.[10]
