Nilai Municipal Council

Nilai Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Nilai, MPN) is a defunct municipal authority in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

Nilai Municipal Council

Formed to administer the more rural wards of Seremban district, MPN's authority covered the towns of Nilai, Rantau, Labu, Bandar Enstek and some suburbs of Seremban town. Seremban's central business district was administered by the Seremban Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Seremban).

History

Established on 1 January 1979, it was initially known as Seremban District Council (Majlis Daerah Seremban), as a result of the reorganisation of six (6) Local Authorities covering areas of Seremban District outside Seremban town itself:

  • Pajam Local Council (1957)
  • Mantin Local Council (1958)
  • Rantau Local Council Town Board (1959)
  • Nilai Local Council Town Board (1959)
  • Broga Local Council Town Board (1959)
  • Labu Local Council Town Board (1959)

The district council was upgraded to a municipal council on 2 February 2002, and renamed Nilai Municipal Council. It was entrusted to administrate eight mukims (communes) in Seremban District. Among the mukims under the administration of Nilai Municipal Council at present are:

  • Mukim Setul
  • Mukim Labu
  • Mukim Rantau
  • Mukim Lenggeng
  • Mukim Pantai
  • Part of Rasah
  • Part of Ampangan
  • Part of metropolitan Seremban

Nilai Municipal Council merged with Seremban Municipal Council in January 2020, forming the Seremban City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Seremban, MBS) as a single city council covering the entire Seremban district.
