New Zealand cricket team in Sri Lanka in 1992–93
New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka in 1992/93 was historical as this was the 2nd test series after revival of international cricket in Sri Lanka after 1987.
Unfortunately again, on 16 November 1992 another bomb blast happened near players' residing hotel. However, series went ahead as planned.
Sri Lanka won the Test series 1–0 with 1 match drawn.
The test win at SSC was their 3rd test win out of 42 tests at that time.
Roshan Mahanama was the highest run getter in the series with 291 runs at 97.00.
Ken Rutherford scored the most runs for Kiwis with 196 runs at 49.00
Top wicket taker, Jayananda Warnaweera took 9 wickets during the series and he was picked ahead of young Muttiah Muralitharan in the first match. However, during the second game duo scalped 13 wickets between them to seal the game.
During the 2nd test, Hashan Tillakaratne took 7 catches and scored 93 in the first innings was also a highlight of the series.
