History

In 1997 the National Mes Company decided to form a football club in one of its focus cities, Rafsanjan.

Mes Rafsanjan knocked out a number of Persian Gulf Pro League clubs in the Hazfi Cup of 2008–09, including Foolad and Esteghlal. The club was later defeated by the eventual champions Zob Ahan in the semi-finals.

Former coaches

Season 2007/2009

Vatanikia was named head coach of Mes Rafsanjan for the 2007/2008 season, having had success with youth teams, such as Paykan and Ekbatan. He was the head of the youth department of Ekbatan football club for the 2005/2006 season, which was regarded as one of the best youth systems in the country at the time. Vatanikia was sacked before the end of the season, after less than 10 months in office.
