Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, also known as MMMUT, Gorakhpur has been established in year 2013 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the form of a non-affiliating, teaching and research University after reconstituting the Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College of Gorakhpur which was established in the year 1962.[1]

The vision of the University is to facilitate and promote studies, research, technology incubation, product innovation and extension work in Science, Technology and Management Education, and also to achieve excellence in higher technical education.
The distinctive mission of the University is to serve society as a center of higher learning, providing long-term societal benefits through transmitting advanced knowledge, discovering new knowledge and functioning as an active working repository of organized knowledge. Moreover to take leadership role by providing need based programmes in Engineering and Technology, Applied Sciences, Management, Humanities, Architecture, Pharmacy, Retail and Fashion Designing, Mass Communication, Agriculture and other employable courses in emerging areas.
The University has a lush green campus that spreads over a vast area of 354 acres. As you enter its gate, the first sight that greets you is the colour green. Malaviya's wooded acreages, a mere seven kilometers away from the holy city of Gorakhpur, provide the perfect element for the perfect engineer. The University is located on Gorakhpur-Deoria road, about 9 kilometers from Gorakhpur Railway Station as well as from main Gorakhpur Roadways bus-station

Bachelor of Technology The university offers a Bachelor of Technology degree course of four years duration in the following fields: (Field and Present Intake has been indicated, and they are as follows.)
- Chemical Engineering 84 Seats
- Civil Engineering 165 Seats
- Computer Science and Engineering 180 Seats
- Electrical Engineering 165 Seats
- Electronics and Communications Engineering 165 Seats
- Mechanical Engineering 165 Seats
- Information Technology Engineering 120 Seats
The University has decided to upgrade the B. Tech. branches of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Information Technology Engineering with the specialization courses of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT) to increase the employability of its enrolled students.
Master of Technology The University offers twelve full-time M.Tech. programs in Civil- 72 seats (18×4) , Electrical- 36 seats (18×2), Electronics and Communication- 36 seats (18×2), Mechanical- 36 seats (18×2) and Computer Science and Engineering- 18 seats (18×1), Information Technology and Computer Applications- 18 seats (18×1), Departments.
The University has also proposed to launch Master of Technology (M. Tech.) in Cyber Security from the upcoming academic session 2021-2022.
Master of Computer Applications A three-year M.C.A. Programme has been offered since the 1987-88 session. The present intake is 60. Recently, the University has approved the modifications in the duration of the M.C.A. programme offered. The duration of the programme will be two years from the academic session 2020-2021.
Master of Business Administration The Centre for Management Studies (CMS) of the University came into existence in 2001. Since then, it has been offering a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme under self-finance scheme. The present intake into the MBA programme is 75. The Department of Humanities and Management Science[2] (HMSD) was established on June 22, 2019. The department emerged out from Applied Science Department which was established in the year 1962 and Centre for Management Studies (CMS) of MMMEC, Gorakhpur with a view to impart quality teaching to the students while also promoting the implementation of practical aspects of Humanities and Management and with a view to build a solid foundation as pivotal constituent of Engineering and Management education as well as research. For the students and faculty, recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, USA[2] where both the collaborators will avail exposure to world class teaching-learning and state-of-art research experience. The Department also promotes teaching and research in new and emerging areas concerning Engineering and Management domains and encourages the academic interaction of the faculty and students at national and international level. An MOU has also been signed between Indian Institute of Management, Indore and the Department of Humanities and Management Science,[2] Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur for academic collaboration[3] and support. The MBA programme, as prescribed by Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur offers dual specializations. The details of the specializations offered are as follows:[4]

Apart from offering various subjects to Engineering courses of the University, the Department of Humanities and Management Science[2] (HMSD) has also started offering the UG and Doctoral Degree programmes as well. (Admissions into the new academic programme rollouts have started from the academic session 2019-2020)
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)- The first batch has been admitted to the University in the academic session 2019-2020. The present intake is 75 seats.[2]

Master of Science in Physics (Electronics) A two-year M.Sc. Programme in Physics (Electronics) has been offered since the 2018-19 session. The present intake is 32.
Master of Science in Mathematics (Computing) A full fledged two-year Master of Science Programme in Mathematics with specialization in Computing is also being offered since the academic session 2018-19. The present intake in this course is of 32 seats.
Master of Science in Chemistry A full time two-year Master of Science course in Chemistry is also rolling since the session 2018-19 and the present intake is of 32 seats only in this course also.
Ph.D. courses The university is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education to award Ph.D. degrees under the Quality Improvement Programme. The total intake for Ph.D. under QIP is eight (two seats in each of the four disciplines, EE, ECE, CE, and ME).
Recently, the University has also announced for admissions under the newly designed full-time Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) programme starting from the academic session 2020-2021 and with an intake of 60 seats.
After carefully assessing the market demands, the University has further decided to rollout the following courses which are equipped with the modern and state-of-art curriculum, in the upcoming sessions:
Admissions under Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in Textile Engineering will start from the academic session 2021-2022 with an intake of 60 seats.
The very popular and demanding course among the millenials Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Data Science will also begin from the academic session 2021-2022 with an initial intake of 30 seats only.
Admissions
Under Graduate Admissions[5]
- Undergraduate admissions until 2014 were being done through the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examinations SEE-UPTU, also known as UPSEE. Post the college was recognized as a State Technical University, the admissions to UG courses were taken through an admission test conducted by MMMUT named as Malaviya Entrance Test (MET).
From the session 2021-2022, Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE-MAIN) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) will replace the MET for future admissions in the University.
Post Graduate Admissions[6]
- Admission in M. Tech. programme is done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering- GATE Score of the candidate. And admission to courses like MCA and M. Sc. will be made by Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur through Malaviya Entrance Test (MET). Reservation rules are followed in admissions as per the norms of UP Govt./MMMUT, Gorakhpur.
