Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (English: Young Scientist Incentive Plan) (KVPY) is a scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences. It offers scholarships and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level to selected students. Begun in 1999, it is administered by the Indian Institute of Science. The students who qualify in the KVPY Exam are eligible for a fellowship as well as admissions into institutes like the IISc and the IISER based on additional criteria. This exam has 3 Streams: SA (Class 11), SX (Class 12), and SB (First year BSc). Streams SP Basic Sciences(Class 11, 12 and First-year BSc, BTech) and SP Medicine(First-year MBBS) were discontinued since 2012-13.[1] Till 2019-20, for receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test (75%) and interview marks (25%) were considered. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020-21 selection procedure doesn't include any interview and the exams are going to on 31 jan 2021 and all the participants are told to wear mask and take a bottle of hand sanitisers

Rewards
The students who qualify KVPY Exam are eligible for the fellowship. The students receive a fellowship from 1st year onwards of their graduation (science field)
. The KVPY fellows receive Rs. 5000 monthly fellowship from 1st to 3rd year of B.Sc/ B.Stat/ B.S./ B.Maths/ Integrated M.S./M.Sc and an annual contingency grant of Rs.20,000. After three years the fellowship is enhanced to Rs.7,000 per month during M.Sc/4th and 5th year of Integrated M.S./M.Sc and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 28,000.[2]
This exam serves as an entrance exam to various premium pure science institutes in India such as IISc,IISER and IIST.
Result declaration
The results of the Aptitude test are generally declared in the second fortnight of December. The final results of the exam (i.e. Aptitude Test + Interview) are declared in the second fortnight of March . But this year (2021) , results (Aptitude test) are likely to be declared by the 2nd week of february and this will be treated as final result as there is no interview this year due to Covid 19.
