From 1995 to 1997 Ayşe Önal hosted a discussion show Minefield on Kanal 7 which brought Jews, Armenians and Turks together five days a week in a way not previously seen on Turkish television.[1]
Kanal 7 struggled to get viewers until it introduced Indian Dramas. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? from STAR Plus in 2016 became a sensation in Turkey which increased viewership of Kanal 7 by four times in just two months. Later it introduced many Indian TV Dramas with Turkish dubbing and getting significant viewership as well.
