Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970
Italy was represented by Gianni Morandi, with the song '"Occhi di ragazza", at the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 21 March in Amsterdam. Both song and performer were chosen internally by broadcaster RAI.

At Eurovision
On the night of the contest Morandi performed third in the running order, following Switzerland and preceding Yugoslavia. At the close of voting "Occhi di ragazza" had received 5 points (2 each from Germany and Spain and 1 from Yugoslavia), placing Italy joint 8th (with Belgium and Monaco) of the 12 entries. The highest score awarded by the Italian jury was 3 apiece to the Netherlands and Spain.[1]
