Holly Rehder

Holly Rehder (born September 15, 1969) is an American politician who served in the Missouri House of Representatives from the 148th district from 2013 - 2020, where she represented parts of Scott and Mississippi counties.[1][2] Rehder ran for state senate in 2020, to replace Sen. Wayne Wallingford.[3]

Rehder won the Primary Election for State Senate in August 2020 by 140 votes and then was easily elected in the General Election. Many political pundits believed it would be impossible for someone outside of Cape Girardeau to serve as the state senator for the area. Rehder now represents the counties of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry, Scott, and Wayne in the Missouri Senate [4]

Background

Rehder and her husband live near Scott City on a home along the Mississippi River. Born in Memphis, TN, Rehder spent her formative years in Dallas, TX, before moving to Southeast Missouri where her parents and extended family has been for over five generations. She and her husband Ray have three children, Raychel Jarrett, Johnny Griswell Jr., and Christian Rehder, and three grandchildren, Kayden, Karlei and Liam.

Rehder spent eight years in the Missouri House of Representatives holding the seat for the 148th District.[5] She was first elected in 2012.[6]

In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Rehder and her husband Ray started their own cable telecommunications contracting company, Integrity Communications, in 2004.[7]

Small business owner

Along with help of her husband, Ray, launched Integrity Communications in 2004. Integrity Communication is a telecommunication contracting company that provides cable installation and construction across multiple states.[8]

Education

Rehder didn't have a typical college experience. After working to get her GED, she went to Southeast Missouri State University. She worked a part-time job to cover the expense.[9] Starting as a full-time, non-traditional student, Rehder discovered quickly that she could not support her family and go to school full-time. Rehder dropped out of college and went back to work full-time. In the meantime, she would take college classes as she could on nights and weekends.[10] It took Rehder 17 years to finally receive her college degree. She received a Bachelor's in mass communication and a double minor in Political Science and Communications for Legal Professionals (debate).[11]

House committee assignments

Rehder has served in many leadership roles while in the House of Representatives; Chair of Labor and Industrial Relations, Chair of Economic Development, and currently as Chair of Rules. She also currently serves on the Children and Families Committee and Administration and Accounts.[12]

Agenda

Holly Rehder is a conservative leader for the people of Southeast Missouri working to shrink government overreach, uphold the rule of law, and protect our freedoms and rural values. She has also championed the fight against the opioid epidemic in Missouri and works to ensure proper funding of mental health services.[13]
