Herring, Iowa
Herring is a ghost town in Sac County, in the U.S. state of Iowa.[1]
History
Herring was originally called Weed, and under the latter name was platted in 1899.[2] The community was renamed Herring in 1901, in honor of a local pioneer settler.[2] A post office was established at Herring in 1900, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1951.[3][4]
