Güldal Akşit
Güldal Akşit (pronounced [ɟyɫdaɫ ˈakʃit]; born January 23, 1960 in Malatya, Turkey) was a Turkish politician and the President of the Parliamentary Commission on Equal Opportunities for Men and Women.[1] She was elected as a member of parliament for Istanbul in 2002 and re-elected in 2007.[2] She was the Minister of Culture and Tourism[3] in the cabinet of Abdullah Gül and the first cabinet of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Akşit was the head of the AKP women's branch[3] and interested in women's rights.[4]
She graduated from the Hacettepe University and Istanbul University's Faculty of Law.[5]
