This song is a mini_opera, with Shirley Allston, acting like a mother, to Beverly Lee, acting like a daughter. It begins with Alston's spoken recitation, and then declares her daughter a fool, for refusing a suitor, who is planning to get married to another girl, while the daughter hopelessly declared her love for him.

The song was ranked #57 on Billboard magazine's Top Hot 100 songs of 1963.[3]
