Duki (rapper)

Mauro Ezequiel Lombardo Quiroga (born 24 June 1996),[2][3][4] better known by the stage name Duki, is an Argentine rapper and singer. He had started in rock music[5] but soon moved to rap with taking part in Argentine freestyle rap competition known as El Quinto Escalón winning in 2016 and releasing the single "No Vendo Trap" on YouTube. In 2017, he joined Mueva Records but later left after differences with producer Omar Varela. He is a leading voice in Argentine trap music[6][7] with tracks like "Hello Cotto", "She Don't Give a FO" and "Goteo". He has collaborated with popular trappers such as YSY A, Cazzu, Khea and Bad Bunny. In 2018, he became a member of the hip hop group #ModoDiablo.

Early life

Mauro began to take an interest in Latin hip hop and trap at the age of seven. He listened to a lot of musical variety, but mostly American rap, something that influenced him for the future. Freestyle caught his attention after seeing a battle between Arkano and Skone, and in 2013 he began to compete in different competitions. His success began after his participation in El Quinto Escalón, one of the best known freestyle competitions in Buenos Aires, which she won on Date 6 of 2016.[8][9][10][11]

Career

Early years (2013-2015)

In 2013, Duki participated in his first rap battle, along with Salva, against Monto and Ambro, in Madero Free, where he was victorious.

Duki was participating in an underground competition called Unión de Zonas, where he faced, along with Felpa, Dani and Elai. He was also in Madero Free, where he faced Dani again. Then he participated in other competitions such as Las Vegas Freestyle, Refugio, and El Quinto Escalón, facing MC's such as Wolf, Tink, among others.

El Quinto Escalón and first singles (2016-2017)

In 2016 Duki gained his fame as one of the freestylers who stood out in the legendary Freestyle rap competition "El Quinto Escalón, a competition where he became champion on the fifth date after beating Nacho in the final.

That same year, Duki competed against referents of Freestyle rap and Argentine urban music, such as Ecko, Midel, Acru, Wos, Paulo, MKS, Lit Killah, among others.

He began his musical career in November 2016 with his first single "No vendo trap".[12] In the first week it had already reached one million visits and, the next, two million. Duki and Warrobit, the person in charge of the mastering of No vendo trap, had asked Pa$ha, a French producer, for the beat, who granted them the rights to the instrumental for free but who, seeing that the song had achieved exorbitant numbers in so little time, he decided to report them on YouTube and the platform downloaded the video.[13] While the members of El Castillo appealed Pa$ha's complaint, Duki started crafting the next song with Klave, "Txdx Violeta." Although she did not have the results of the first.

First Musical Hits (2017-2018)

In 2017 Duki left the rap battles by signing with the Argentine label MUEVA Records directed by Argentine producer Omar Varela.[14] At this stage, the songs "She Don't Give a FO", "Loca" and "Hello Cotto" stand out for being the first to exceed 100 million visits. This is where his commercial career begins, selling his music to the masses, thus allowing him to enter the mainstream of Argentina. He took a lot of fame in youth despite his lyrics, thus being a fashion.
