Content and release
Christmas with The Judds and Alabama was a collection of previously-recorded Christmas music by The Judds and Alabama. Both artists had previously had success in the country market on RCA Records. Songs chosen for the project were taken from Alabama's 1985 studio album Alabama Christmas and The Judds's 1987 studio album Christmas Time with The Judds. The Judds's music was produced by Brent Maher, while Alabama's was produced by Alabama and Harold Shedd.[2]
A total of eight tracks were chosen for the album.[1] The album's first four tracks were recordings by The Judds, which included "Silver Bells" and their 1990 hit "Love Can Build a Bridge." The remaining four tracks were recordings by Alabama, which included 1982's "Christmas in Dixie."[2]
Christmas with The Judds and Alabama was released on August 16, 1994, via RCA Records. It was issued as a compact disc[3] and in cassette form.[2] The album spent three weeks on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart before reaching number 61 in December 1994.[4]
