It is 35 km (22 mi) from the town center, Poblacion, making it the most remote barangay of the town.

History
The original name of the place was Compra, when it was a sitio of barangay Babag, Ubay (now part of Dagohoy). Babag became a barangay of old town of Victoria, Bohol when it became an independent municipality in 1953. [4] Its name was later changed to Dagohoy in 1956.[5]
In 1954, it became a separate barangay and annexed to Ubay during the time of former mayor Ricardo Boyles, despite opposition from the local residents.[6] It was named Buenavista from the Spanish buena vista, which means beautiful view. The town of Pilar also wanted to annex the barrio but failed.
In the same year, 1954, a school building was constructed. It began with one school teacher for primary education. Later, it became a full elementary school.
