Internal selection
On 15 January 2011, Serbian newspaper Blic reported that 2004 Serbia and Montenegrin Eurovision contestant Željko Joksimović would compose the Belarusian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, to be performed by Irina Dorofeeva.[3][4] This was later confirmed to be untrue, as BTRC opened a submission period where artists and composers were able to submit their applications and entries to the broadcaster between 25 January 2011 and 21 February 2011.[5] On 28 February 2011, Anastasia Vinnikova was announced as the Belarusian entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Born in Byelorussia". The entry was selected by a jury panel from 29 entries received by the broadcaster at the closing of the submission deadline.[6] On 3 March 2011, it was announced that "Born in Byelorussia" would undergo a change in lyrics, retitled as "I Am Belarusian".[7]
Disqualification and song change
On 12 March 2011, BTRC announced that "I Am Belarusian" was disqualified as the song had been publicly performed in the summer of 2010. The new entry "I Love Belarus" was presented on 14 March 2011.[8]
