The municipality covers an area of 5.79 square kilometres (2.24 sq mi), and has a population of 85 (as at 28 August 2006). It includes the hamlet of Zvěřetice.
Babice lies approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) east of Prachatice, 20 km (12 mi) west of České Budějovice, and 119 km (74 mi) south of Prague.
