Az-Zahir (Abbasid caliph)
Az-Zahir or Al-Dhahir (1175 – 11 July 1226) (Arabic: الظاهر بأمر الله, romanized: Aẓ-Ẓāhir bi-Amr Allāh | in full: أبو النصر محمد الظاهر بأمر الله بن أحمد الناصر) was the Abbasid Caliph in Baghdad from 1225 to 1226. He succeeded his father Caliph Al-Nasir in the year 1225 as the thirty-fifth Abbasid Caliph.

Biography
Aẓ-Ẓāhir bi-Amr Allāh was the Caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate in Baghdad. He was the son of an-Nasir, and was named as his successor in 1189. In his short reign, he lowered the taxes, and built a strong army to resist invasions. He died on 10 July 1226, nine months after his accession.
Succession
Az-Zahir died at the age of 51, He ruled as caliph for a short period of nine months.
He was succeeded by al-Mustansir Bi'llah (Abû Ja`far al-Mustansir bi-llah al-Mansûr ben az-Zâhir).[1] Al-Mustansir Bi'llah was born in 17 February 1192.[2] On Az-Zahir's death in 1226 he succeeded him as the thirty-sixth Abbasid Caliph. He died on 5 December 1242.[3]
