Atatürk Square, Ashgabat
Atatürk Square is a park named after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic located in the center of[1] Ashgabat.[2]

It is about 500 meters East of the Independence Square.[3] It is bordered by Gorogly street in the North, H.Babayev Street in the west and Chary Nurymow Street in the south.
A statue of Ataturk is in located at the center of the square.[4][5]
Atatürk commemoration
On the 72nd anniversary of his death, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was remembered in a commemoration ceremony at Atatürk Square. A moment of silence was held by the participants which included officials from the Turkish Embassy, members of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, members of the Mejlis, representatives from Turkish companies, students and teachers of the local Turkish schools.[6] The commemoration takes place every year[1] on the death day of Atatürk when flowers are laid at the monument to Atatürk in the middle of the square commemorating the day in remembrance of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.[7]

On November 10, the annual wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the prominent politician and statesman of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, at the park located in the center of the Turkmen capital. As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports, according to the established tradition, the staff of the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry officials and representatives of the public, leaders of Turkish companies operating in Turkmenistan, as well as teachers and students of Ashgabat’s Turkmen-Turkish schools and media representatives got together on the day of death of the leader and reformer of the Turkish people to honor his memory. In his speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Turkmenistan Sevki Mutevellioglu thanked everyone and expressed his deep gratitude to the Turkmen people “for the manifestation of fraternal feelings towards the Turkish people, and respect for its national sacred objects and traditions.”

A flower laying ceremony was held at the monument to the founder and first president of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, in Ataturk Square in Ashgabat on November 10 to mark the 72nd anniversary of his death.
