Anna Wishart
Anna Wishart (born January 2, 1985) is an American politician who has served in the Nebraska Legislature from the 27th district since 2017.[1][2] She is a member of the Democratic Party.[3]

She is an alumna of Middlebury College in Vermont where she graduated with a degree in Film Studies in 2007. She moved back to Nebraska after college and in 2011 Anna was elected to the Lincoln Airport Authority where she served as Chair of the Board for 5 years. Currently she works as the Director of Partnerships at Beyond School Bells which is a non-profit that works to create after-school and summer programming for Nebraska youths[4]
She was elected to the Nebraska State Senate on November 8, 2016 after defeating Dick Clark in the General Election. She received 73.08% of the vote. She is up for re-election in 2020 and is facing Brenda Bickford in the primary election on May 12, 2020.[5] She announced that she would seek re-election in 2020 on September 27, 2019. If reelected, Wishart said, she would focus on legislation that "fixes our broken mental health and corrections systems," along with initiatives to advance education and economic development.[6]
In the legislature, Wishart serves on the Appropriations Committee and the Tribal-Relations Committee.[7] In 2018, she joined Adam Morfeld to create a committee to gather signatures for a petition to hold a ballot initiative referendum to legalize medical marijuana in Nebraska.[8]
