And He Slayed Her
"And He Slayed Her" is a song by American recording artist Liz Phair. The song is Phair's most recent single, initially released in 2010 as part of her album Funstyle, but released as a single in 2012 with a music video.[1] The song discusses former Capitol Records executive Andrew Slater.[2] Phair described it as a song where she imagines "ripping through the black void, coming with justice, a stake through [the label exec’s] heart".[3] AllMusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine described the song as "grinding power pop",[4] while the LA Times described it as a "revival of the spirit of Buffy", commenting that the song's "reclamation of female anger in the face of male privilege" felt honest and relevant.[5] Salon's Judy Berman also compared the track to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.[6]
