Amilaps

Amilaps is a genus in the jumping spider family Salticidae. As of August 2020, its only species is Amilaps mayana, found in Mexico and Guatemala.[1][2]

Taxonomy

The genus and species were first described in 2019 by Wayne Maddison,[1][2] who originally collected the type specimen in 1983 in Teapa, Mexico.[2] Maddison tentatively placed the genus in the tribe Lapsiini, one of the tribes into which the subfamily Spartaeinae is divided.[2]
